BRIEF TITLE: Identity, Authenticity and Making ‘Selfishly’

Brief

An examination of identity, image-making, quantity, obsessiveness, repetition and disinterest in art world trends (‘making selfishly’) observed in the work of outsider artists through a body of physical work and the response to it on social media. A time based collection of work based on a single theme made every day. The project will be documented on social media, exploring the idea of anonymity and how identity can affect both artist and audience. A corresponding exhibition will also be proposed, with a considered thought process towards how this too could, in potential, affect perceptions of art and artist.

Product	Tone of Voice
·      A physical collection of work made over a specified time period (October through December) ·      An accompanying social media presence ·      An exhibition proposal ·      Accompanying promotional material for the exhibition ·      A proposed exhibition book / catalogue (?)	·      Loose, uninhibited visual work ·      Obsession through quantity ·      Detached online presence (no interfering personality/ identity) ·      Exhibition tone of voice must be further investigated, will it too be detached like the online media? Or will it encourage a perception of a non-existent identity?
Audience	Context
·      The point is that the work is made ‘selfishly’, so the time based collection is all for me. I would like to take it as an opportunity to discover new ways of working, but also how working in an indulgent manner can be good or bad. ·      But in regards to the promotion of the work, the social media and exhibition etc: art appreciators, gallery visitors, but also people in general! There isn’t anyone who should be unincluded from this.	·      Independent body of work ·      Online, social media ·      Independent exhibition and promotion ·      Books, collections, archives (?)
